I am genuinely excited writing this review because this place is NO JOKE.

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for a long time and just never got around to it but my boyfriend surprised me by booking this for our anniversary and it lived up to every expectation.

Fed By Water is an innovative and interesting, completely cruelty free restaurant. Not only is their menu entirely plant based but they are also one of very few restaurants whose produce is created using solely purified water.

By removing all of the impurities that can be found in tap water such as chlorine and bacteria, the restaurant is a front-runner in a new form of dining out.

Fed boasts a strong focus on the environmental effect of what we eat and drink as well as an integral understanding of the health benefits a plant based diet can have on the human body.

‘We believe that it is time for a revolution in food culture; our focus needs to be on the health implications and environmental impact of what we put into our bodies. ‘

Let’s discuss this menu…

This is one of the most exciting vegan menus I’ve seen… ever. Everything is vegan friendly, seriously… everything. This is exciting as for once you don’t have to search for the few dishes that are marked (or not marked) as vegan options and instead have a vast array of exciting and hearty Italian dishes to choose from.

The amount of plant-based cheese on this menu is insane and I have never seen or tasted so many amazing plant-based cheeses. Before I decided to become a vegan I was a cheese addict and honestly, I haven’t been crazy about a lot of the vegan cheese I have bought from supermarkets. So, I just assumed I didn’t love vegan cheese and that was something I just had to let go of… until now.

These cheese options blew my mind. We ordered one of the cheese tasting platter because I needed to try as many of these as I could and it was a wise choice. Just look at this incredible spread of vegan cheese goodness!

This platter was the ‘Assaggini Di Formaggi Mix.’

I liked every single one of these and I am not an easy audience for this. If you do like vegan cheese you HAVE to try this, and if you don’t think you do, you also have to try this to see if, like me, your opinions will change.

They also serve these cheese boards with incredible home-made marble bread which looks amazing and tastes even better.

For main I (obviously) ordered a pizza. I went for the Invernale pizza which includes; caramalised onion, homemade cashew mozzarella, diced sage butternut squash, kale and is drizzled with Italian extra virgin olive oil. I opted for this on a black dough base which is pizza dough mixed with activated charcoal powder. This was amazing and the black dough was something I hadn’t tried before but really enjoyed.

The other main we ordered was the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. This may sound like a dish you recognise and have seen on every Italian restaurant’s menu. However, this is anything BUT the normal white sauce pasta dish you are used to. This is made with durum wheat spaghetti pasta with onions, smoked tofu, turmeric and soya cream, topped with crispy seitan chunks and cracked black pepper.

This was amazing. I used to find Carbonara a little bit too creamy and slightly sickly but this dish was neither of these - it was just the right amount of creaminess and because it is made using soya, it isn't as intense on the stomach as the standard dairy based alternative.

To drink we ordered the vegan bloody Mary’s because it’s my very favourite drink and they were great!

I can’t urge you enough to go to Dalston and try as many things on this amazing plant-based menu as physically possible. Whilst this is a bold statement, I have absolutely no qualms in declaring Fed By Water my official new favourite vegan restaurant in London.

Where is it? Unit 1b Dalston Cross Shopping Centre, 64 Kingsland High Street, E8 2LX
