Putting a plant-based twist on traditional Vietnamese and Korean dishes, this vegan eatery is serving up some of the best vegan street food around.

Drawing from their experiences travelling the globe and memories from their childhood, food lovers, Liz Nguyen & Joseph Tam, have created fresh dishes that are full of flavour.

I first got my hands on their delicious street food at Kerb’s vegan food festival, Living on the Veg, where I had their Korean BBQ bánh mì. Bánh mì is the Korean word for bread, and specifically describes the baguette (the word was introduced by the French during the colonial period in Vietnam – a little history for you!)

Eat Chay’s BBQ bánh mì is a baguette with seitan and mushroom walnut paste, served with pickled carrots, fresh coriander, spicy mayo and crispy onions. It’s amazing. It was so good in fact that I voted for them as my top contender at the festival!

So, naturally I was very excited to try more of their delicious food at Veg Fest 2017 and stood in the queue debating what to have for a long time, despite them only had three menu options available…

I went for their Chilli Lemongrass Chick’n Bánh Mì…. Wow. It is served with the exact same, fresh ingredients and is equally as delicious.

As a clear fan of this street food I’m going to go ahead and give Eat Chay a solid 9/10.

Where can you find them? Kerb, Hackney Downs Market and Broadway Vegan market on Saturdays Head to their Instagram for the latest updates on where they will be: @eatchayclub https://www.instagram.com/eatchayclub/?hl=en
